Sonja is an independent, Berlin based designer. Her work is research and concept driven. She works within different fields of visual communication from visual identities, logo design and artdirection to webdesign, publication and editorial design.

Starting in 2013, the exhibitions at the Temporäre Galerie on Campus Rütli in Berlin show the results of workshops with contemporary artists and kids/teenagers from the neighbourhood. The project is initiated by Ida Schildhauer and curated by Silvia Ploner.

Visual Identity for the Berlin Neukölln based Kiezkapelle at a former graveyard. The chapel is a community spot and can be used for different purpose such as workshops, exhibitions or discussions. Schiller Raum is a web platform that helps people to find out about public rooms in Berlin Schillerkiez. You can rent out that rooms for all kind of non-profit projects. The visual identity is based on an animated Logo that shows the variety of people, rooms and projects. Keyvisual is a map that shows the neighborhood. Have a closer look at → schillerraum.de

Fremde Objekte is the title of my bachelor-thesis. The book is based on research of common practices of displaying ethnological objects in still life photography. The book questions these photographic representations and shows that these images tell us more about ourselves than about the unknown object.
ARTISTIC NEEDS & INSTITUTIONAL DESIRES • VISUAL IDENTITY
Together with Philipp Schäfer and Irina Koscheleva we created a corporate design for the international congress Artistic Needs and Institutional Desires a cooperation between the Graduate School within the Postgraduate Forum at Berlin University of the Arts and Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Our corporate design shows the different locations of the participants and visualizes the aim of the congress: to unite artistic work with institutional desires.
DEUTSCHES HISTORISCHES MUSEUM • CAMPAIGN DESIGN
1917. Revolution. Russia and Europe was the title of an exhibition about the Russian revolution between 1917 and 1922. The exhibition campaign shows relevance of the topic in the present day. The keywords represent positive and negative aspects of the term revolution. The graffiti element in bright colours is used as visual commentary.

TO TOUCH/TO BE TOUCHED • CONCEPT, PHOTOGRAPHY AND BOOK DESIGN
Touching doesn't only mean understanding but is also an important part of our emotional life. The desire for physical touch is one of the last unfulfilled desires of the digital age. In the publication to touch/to be touched Irina Koscheleva and I aimed to find out, if contact with a technical device can partly compensate for this gap.

The theoretical part of my bachelor-thesis is about the influences of non european art on the artists of the modern era, with a special focus on Constantin Brancusi and Man Ray.
MONEY IN POP • CONCEPT, RESEARCH AND BOOK DESIGN
It‘s all about money. Money and friendships don‘t mix, time is money, and money makes the world go round. In Pop culture money is worshiped, influencing our perception of it. This book is a personal collection of cinematic representation, lyrics, quotes, and artistic positions on the subject of money. It is an attempt to create a comprehensive picture of the early days of pop culture until today. (Together with Irina Koscheleva)

This book is about a street in Berlin called Chausseestraße that dramatically changed during the last decade. The three chapters show the street in times of industrialisation, during the cold war and in today's property boom.

This small publication deals with the future of books in the digital age. The pictures presented are taken with a smartphone and help to illustrate the content of the essay.
